Dec. 6 Christmas question of the day

Today's post is a 2 part series.  I will post more tomorrow.
So 'The Elf on the Shelf".  Lots of us have them and they do so many "cutesy" things to watch over our kiddos at Christmas time. But today's question is---does your elf ever do bad things?
Here's a collection of gathered photos of other elves and some things that are sure to land him on the naughty list.

Dec. 5 Christmas Question of the day

So today the question is about advent calendars. Do you do them in your house? I was originally going to ask this of parents with kids, then I discovered a sweet mini nail polish advent calendar from Sephora. This was originally for the girl child because girl advents are hard to find but then she went all "Lego crazy" and wanted that kind. So this momma's enjoys a manicure of the day and kids are opening their Lego ones. Honestly, it's one more thing to get then out of bed earlier and easier in the morning so yeah!! And the fact that I don't need to tell them everyday how many more days until Christmas is a bonus! So do you advent/count down until Christmas at your house or no?
Share your response!!

December 4- Xmas Question of the day!

Ok, so I'm a day late. I wish I could say I was doing some fun Christmas activity, but in truth I fell asleep on the couch----at least it was during the movie "Christmas Vacation!"

So the question is:
Do you do anything special for your pet for Christmas? A present? Dress them up? I've already saw some Christmas pictures of your pets on Facebook that have them dressed up---super cute!

At our house, our dogs have Christmas handkerchief around their necks. We also have a variety of ornaments on our family tree which represent our pets.

As for Christmas gifts---we don't generally do this since we had children. Our pets do not get alot of treats, because they simply do not need to extra calories and they have caused urinary tract infections in Paisley in the past. They  do get rawhide bones occassionally.
The pets used to have stockings but then kids came and let's face it--2 dog, 2 cat, and 6 chicken stockings---the fireplace isn't big enough!
We do try to add the pets in the Christmas picture and they are always mentioned in our family's newsletter that we mail out with our cards.

That's it for Dec 4---onto December 5th post and I'm back on track!

December 3 Christmas Question of the day!

Christmas presents...How do you shop? Do you order online or in stores? Do you shop Black Friday and then you are done or little by little?

As my kids are getting older the amount of items I buy is less but they get more expensive. Their wants also become more specific, so I can't buy throughout the year any longer either. I find their likes change so purchasing after Christmas clearances for the following year is impossible.

This year I've shopped much more online and I like it! I do stress though until the package actually arrives for fear it doesn't come. The only problem with online shopping is the selection is more limited online rather than in-store. This was true on Black Friday with Old Navy, when must online deals were gone in the sizes I needed, but the store had plenty of options. I also ordered from Aeropostle and by the time my "cart" was loaded several items I wanted were sold out in the few minute wait.

The nice part about online shopping is no annoying people and the coupons that I forget to take to the store are at home and available for use online. The bad part---no Annie Anne pretzel treats!!

So how do you shop? Are you done? (If so come wrap my crap!)

Weekly reflections 12/2/12

12/2/12

1. Love that it's the time of year I can blame my laziness on holiday season depression.
2. If you decorate your vehicle up like Rudolph we can't be friends anymore, because it's just weird.
3. Arona Road confuses me.
4. I'm addicted to www.reindeercam.com I wish I could say its because of my kids but I totally watch it even when they are in school.
5. I never sit still long enough for my nails to properly dry. Then my mess up and it messes with my need for perfection. It's a loss/loss.
6. Two years in a row my kids would not sit on Santa's lap or even go near him at breakfast with Santa at the school. I think my stranger danger talks are working!
7. I'm sick of the Walmart/Giant Eagle ad comparisons commercials and newspaper prints.
8. The Walking Dead has a mid-season finale. Mid season? Weird.
9. My dad hunts because my brother wants to. Yet for the last many years, Dad gets a deer and Jason does not!

That's all for this week. My children are still alive and we got photos out of the way. It's a good week! Share some reflections you have!

December 2--question of the day?

Christmas Cookies??
Do you make them or not?

I have saw so many Facebook posts of people making cookies this weekend. I believe one post from my cousin said she made 58 dozen!! WOW!!
All these look so very yummy but...............
then I eat them.......

And, yeah.......I don't need to eat them!
My ass likes to store those cookies.....cookie ass is not attractive.

This is more my cookie baking:

So I have made cookies in the past but, the only ones I will make this year is for a cookie exchange with friends. That's just for a night out and good company. I will have a few and then hope to get those suckers out of the house asap! But, I'll pertake in some cookies at your house, but if you see me hanging around that plate of them too long then please remove me and place me in front of the alcohol!

Christmas Question of the day returns!!

IT'S DECEMBER---WHAT??????

Where has the year gone? Wasn't it summer yesterday? (Although this week is calling for temps in the 60's it's still the Ho-Ho-Ho-est time of the year!)

I've been a 'bad blog writer' and if I want some new electronic devices from "The Big Man." (And I don't mean my hubby because that Big Man's money comes from the same checking account as mine) I better start being a "good little blog writer" to earn some presents!

So......Question of the day is:
1. Christmas pictures....do you take them?
Casual or professional?
Stress you out as a mom because they must be all matchy-matchy, smile big, make sure your lips aren't chapped, everyone look at the f'in camera nowish picture? (I have no experience myself in the former sentence---I only presume what completely stressed out mothers must act like!)

Here's a sneak peek at some photos for the Christmas card this year.....only a few of my favorites will actually get the whole card/photo deal....who am I kidding.....if you want one, give me your address...I'll be glad to throw one in the mail to you!
Just return the favor then...nothing's worse then opening up the mail box and getting nothing but bills.

Seriously cute! I swear Squawkers is someone from my family reincarnated. She has to be!
Emily! No Emmitt this year---makes me sad.

What? Your chickens don't read Christmas stories?

Reading a letter from Elfie and Elfetta---if you look closey at the "fairy door" there is a very tiny elf there. The bigger elf needed the day off to work extra shifts at the North Pole. Some Elves are dressed as Santa today at variuos places.
(And yes that's a litter scooper in the backround photobombing my pic---at least it's brand new)
Example of "LOOK AT THE CAMERA"!!!!!!! Not one face in this photo is looking at me? What is so exciting happening all around me?!

Stay tuned for the real photos............
...........one more quick note. Go to www.reindeercam.com There are reindeer and Santa comes to feed them several times a day---like REAL reindeer! It mesmerizes me!

Love ya,
Carla
